Monk, the USA TV Network detective comedy starring Tony Shaloub, is winding up at the end of its current season. The clever comedy about the obsessive – compulsive detective is currently in its eighth and last season. Tony Shaloub stars as Detective Adrian Monk. The cast of Monk also includes Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray - Stanford and Hector Elizondo. Recently Tony Shaloub answered interview questions in a conference call with writers and editors. Monk the Obsessive Compulsive DetectiveTony Shaloub portrays Adrian Monk, a former San Francisco police detective who was let go from the SFPD because he was emotionally unstable after his wife, Trudy, was murdered. Monk is obsessive - compulsive and often drives people around him crazy, but his powers of observation are so acute that his former boss, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) frequently hires him as a consultant to the police force. Traylor Howard portrays Natalie Teeger, Monk's patient assistant and loyal sidekick. The murder of Monk's beloved wife Trudy has been a mystery that has been ongoing throughout the series. Tony Shaloub stated in an earlier interview that the long-time mystery will finally be solved as the series concludes, so all loose ends will be tied up. Following are some of Tony Shaloub's comments about the conclusion of Monk. Are you satisfied with how the series is concluding?Tony Shaloub: "I am very, very happy with how it (the series) has come out. In fact, the last not just the last two episodes, but the last five or six there are a lot of things revealed. I just think it is some of the strongest stuff we have done in all this time. So yes, the answer is I am very, very, very happy. It was incredibly satisfying for me and I know I am guessing that it will be for the viewers. What can you tell us about the upcoming series finale? "Tony Shaloub: "Well, I can't tell you much other than the writers have – they are going to solve the Trudy mystery and have...resolution there. But I am really not a liberty to give away too much of that information. And after eight years on Monk, it has had a devastating effect on my memory, so even if I wanted to, I probably couldn't tell you because I really do not remember how it goes. " There were some pictures of a wedding. Can you give us any information about that?Tony Shaloub: "No. Okay, yes. I'll give you some information. A wedding takes place on the show. A man and a woman become wed. That's about all I can tell you. " Will we get a chance to see some of Monk's family in the final episodes?Tony Shaloub: "Not really. Trudy resurfaces in a big way. I mean, you know the memory of Trudy and that is kind of the way the writers have mapped it out. " What has been your favorite episode and why?Tony Shaloub: "I think that down the road if you were to ask me this question, in a month or two, I would have to say the last. The finale is going to become my favorite because it has been such an enormous – as I said, it is a two part episode and it is a big, big story and so much is really up there. I think that is going to be a good one. " Are you doing a Christmas episode this year?Tony Shalboub: "No, because our finale airs in December, well the first part airs on Friday after Thanksgiving and then the last part, the second part airs on December 4."
